On May 7, 2025, we opened the Sake Brewery Hotel® KIREI.
Nestled in Yanagimachi, a historic district along the Hokkokukaidō in Ueda, Shinshu—this private-use sake brewery hotel breathes new life into a former merchant’s house, located just across the street from Okazaki Brewery, which has been crafting sake here for over 300 years.
At KIREI, you can experience the SAKE CEREMONY, savoring a glass that reflects the character of the local climate and four seasons.
Dinner features seasonal hot pots and dishes paired with carefully selected sake, and the next morning, a comforting grilled rice ball ochazuke awaits to gently ease your body after the night’s indulgence.
On the first floor, you’ll find a Ceremony Room, a kitchen, and a spacious bath with an open ceiling.
The second floor consists of two serene guest rooms and a private living area designed for relaxation.
The vessels used in the SAKE CEREMONY and the lighting that softly illuminates the space are crafted in collaboration with local artisans.
The art that brings depth to the environment includes works of Nōmin Bijutsu (folk art by farmers) and creations by Ueda-based artists.
Traditional folk furniture, books, and other local cultural elements also enrich the space, inviting guests to connect with the spirit of the region.
We hope that each sip enjoyed at “KIREI” offers a glimpse into the culture, life, and beauty of this community.
